Buzzing Goodness at Applebee's @ Triple One

Had a quick dinner with my dearest at Applebee's recently, and I was quite impressed by the service and quality of food they have there!

For more information, read on...

It was a belated 4th Month-sary dinner with my dear, to mark a small milestone in our relationship together, and so we headed down to savour the tasty treats they have to offer.

Went through the menu and was served by their staff who introduced us to their drinks selection.

Both of us ordered the Mango Flavoured Tea (free-flow) @ $7.50 each. It didn't taste too sweet and the mango flavour didn't overpower the tea. Quite a nice cooling drink, especially for dinner after work.

We had the half-sized, Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad as our starter.

Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad

Fresh greens with croutons and grilled chicken. very appetising and the sauce used for the salad makes you want to eat more! And for a half-serving worth of salad, it actually is a lot (one big plate of it), just nice for two people!

We ordered the Ultimate Trios Appetiser set, to try out a few of their signature dishes.

Looks kind of bare for a Ultimate Trios right? Well, what we ordered was actually:

 Cheeseburger Sliders

 Dynamite Shrimp

Mozzarella Sticks

For an appetiser, this one is a huge serving, enough to fill four pax! The Dynamite Shrimp is done with a special sauce which is slighly spicy and sour, but is tangy enough to almost make us order another side of it. The Sliders are very juicy, and the beef patties used taste great! And for any cheese fans out there, the Mozzarella Sticks are not to be missed! Unlike most places, where the sticks may become one solid stick in just minutes, the cheese retained its soft texture while having the crispy exterior! And the dip that came with it totally tantalised our taste-buds!

The next dish to hit our palate was the Sizzling Skillet Fajitas - Combo (of Chicken and Beef).

Sizzling Skillet Fajitas - Combo

By the time this dish arrived, dear and I were both full from the appetiser, but the aroma from this dish made it irresistible to ignore. The Fajitas is done in a way whereby all the flavours are soaked evenly among each speck of rice, and the onions, chicken and beef are cooked to perfection. Sweet and savoury complementing each other. This dish comes with wraps as well. To fully enjoy this dish, do try to eat it with the wraps.

To complete our meal, we had the Blue Ribbon Brownie.

Blue Ribbon Brownie

Very rich and tasty. The brownie is warm and the thick chocolatey taste of it, makes it the perfect dessert to end the night's meal. Walnuts bring extra texture to the whole experience and the vanilla ice-cream is smooth and not so sweet (as compared to the brownie).

The waitresses provided good service, but were a little too jumpy (checking back every 1 or 2 minutes), when we were still going through the menu slowly. And the interval between dishes wasn't controlled well (all the food just appeared immediately, and our table had to be extended). We were overwhelmed by the speed of serving.

Overall, this was a nice dining experience. There are still many dishes that I have not tried, and I will definitely come back for more. However, the next time I come down, I will try to come down in a group - its more worth it this way.

This place deserves a rating for:
Food: 7 / 10
Service: 6 / 10
Ambience: 6.5 / 10

Overall: 6.5 / 10
